After your arrival in France, you will have to do some administrative procedures to facilitate your everyday life : validation of your visa, opening of a bank account, registration to the health insurance…

Validation of visa

It is very important to validate your visa before 3 months of your arrival to France. It is entirely online, and through this website:

Health insurance in France

CPAM (Caisses Primaires d’Assurance Maladie) is the organisation where students should register for social security benefit.

Please keep in mind that only 70% of the medical cost is covered by the CPAM.

To cover the additional 30% of medical cost, you can either apply for CSS (Complémentaire Santé Solidaire) which can be free of cost depending on your incomes, or take private health insurance.

The CSS is linked to the CPAM, if you want to apply it will be on the same website, once your health insurance account will be created.

Mandatory CVEC fee

CVEC (Contribution Vie Etudiante et de Campus) is a national fee that is provided for by the Law on Student Guidance and Success. All students admitted to a French institution of higher education are subject to this fee.
